Flexible data plans for InReach

To activate the devices with InReach module, you need a data contract for the connection & communication to the Iridium satellite network. Data packages are billed monthly in advance by SEPA direct debit or credit card. Data consumption in excess of the respective inclusive volume ("overage") is billed retrospectively.

There is a choice of flat-rate and byte-based data plans, each of which can be deactivated daily free of charge. All we need for setup is the IMEI device number and the AuthCode, both of which appear when the device is switched on and the activation procedure is started. No SIM card is required. When you order the basic data plan, we will send you the access data for your accounts at

explore.garmin.com (management of tracks, contacts and preset/check-in messages as well as MapShare)
as well as for all the Garmin Apps (Explore / Messenger / Tread)
protegear.io (tariff management, LiveTracking, Globalmail, chats, emergency contacts and SmartSafety if applicable).

You want to change from your existing GARMIN data plans ?

- I have a Garmin InReach Subscription plan at the moment. Do I need to terminate it before subscribong to your plan or do you take car of it ?
Yes.

- I rely on Garmin MapShare service to share my position to third Party Apps. Will this still work with your plan ?
Yes! You just need to make a new setup with the new explore account we set up for you.

- I rely on Garmin MapShare service to allow people to request my position. Will this still work with your plan ?
Yes! And you will get additional features!

- I rely on Garmin Messenger App to configure and send message using my phone. Will this app still allow me this ?
Yes, however we recommend using the EXPLORE App with all InReach devices (except the Inreach Messenger)

- How to put "on hold" a ProteGear subscription works ? who to put it back online ? How long does it take ?
You will get access to our admin portal that allows you to set and reset your activation ad-hoc or in advance.
It works within a few minutes normally, unless Garmin Servers are overloaded ;)

General Restrictions for all types of Iridium devices (as far as currently known):

Registration required for use in Russia Iridium-Russia.com. Officially not allowed to be used in India, but technically possible. Germany-Cologne/Bonn: No satellite connection is possible within a radius of 50 km around the Max Planck Institute for Radio Astronomy due to an instruction from the Federal Network Agency.
