How do the A*LIVE data plans work in detail ?

GSM/4G network coverage

An eSIM is installed in the A*LIVE, which can log into almost all GSM (2G/4G) networks worldwide. It automatically connects to the best available network at the respective location. In the 4G area, we use the new "NB-IoT" technology according to NB1 / M1 standard, which is currently being released by more and more countries.

Iridium "On Demand" and satellite costs

After 8 minutes without GSM or 4G connection, the A*LIVE establishes a connection via Iridium (LED #4 changes from flashing to steady light). In Iridium mode, the A*LIVE searches for a GSM/4G connection every 15 minutes and connects to it again if necessary. This saves you the otherwise expensive satellite costs.

The satellite is always active in the Safety & Messaging and Safety & Office plans.

In the plans BASIC and Safety & Tracking the Iridium satellite tariff is activated automatically as soon as you have switched on the ALIVE in a GSM area (LED#4 flashes green) and then have no connection to the GSM network for more than 8 minutes (LED#4 flashes red/orange). The Iridium tariff is now active until you are in the GSM area again (LED#4 flashes green) and you switch off the A*LIVE in the GSM area. In the BASIC tariff, the Iridium satellite tariff is charged per active day outside the GSM range. If the A*LIVE is switched off in the GSM range after 23:50 (GMT/UTC time), the Iridium satellite tariff remains active on the following day.
